Kochi, June 10, 2025 — In an inspiring blend of football passion and environmental activism, the Kerala Blasters Army, the official fan base of Kerala Blasters FC, wrapped up its impactful green campaign, “A Tree for a Goal”, held from June 1 to June 7 throughout Kerala.
The campaign was rooted in a meaningful idea: for every goal the team scored in the 2024–25 season—including the Durand Cup, ISL, and Super Cup—a tree would be planted. With a total of 52 goals, the Army responded with 52 saplings, planted with purpose and pride across the state.
🌿 Turning Cheers into Change
From football fields to farmlands, the initiative transformed sports enthusiasm into environmental action. Supporters of all ages, draped in the team’s yellow, stepped outside stadiums to dig, plant, and give back to nature—each tree a tribute to a goal, and a promise for the future.
“Each sapling tells a story,” shared a Kerala Blasters Army spokesperson. “It’s a story of goals scored on the field, and goals set for a cleaner, greener world.”
🌱 Leaders Join the Cause
The campaign’s message resonated widely, drawing support from notable figures like Sri. P. Prasad, Kerala’s Agriculture Minister, who took part in the planting activities. Joining him was T.G. Purushothaman, assistant coach of Kerala Blasters and Santosh Trophy winner, adding a powerful symbol of commitment from the football fraternity.
The project was seamlessly driven by core Army members—Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad—whose tireless coordination turned an idea into statewide impact.
💛 Beyond the Bleachers: A Movement Grows
Since its formation in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has defined itself not just by its chants and colors in the West Gallery of Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, but by its actions beyond the pitch. Their track record includes blood donation camps, youth football initiatives, and community support programs—and now, a strong step into climate consciousness.
“This is about nurturing dreams both on and off the field,” said coordinator Abhijith K.S. “Football is what brings us together, but it’s our shared responsibility that pushes us to do more.”
🌍 Sowing Seeds for the Future
Looking ahead, the Army plans to grow this campaign into a yearly tradition, with potential involvement from schools, eco clubs, and football lovers across India. The vision? A future where every Kerala Blasters goal leads to a planted tree—creating not just fans, but forest guardians.
